Sowirin Chuanprapun is a Project Officer of Section for Educational Innovation and Skills Development, UNESCO Bangkok Asia and Pacific Regional Bureau for Education. In the past seven years, she has been promoting literacy and flexible learning strategies for out-of-school and marginalized children, youth and adults in Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Sowirin has been engaged in the development and implementation of UNESCO Bangkok’s various initiatives for special target groups including migrant, ethnic minority, stateless and undocumented children. Currently, she has been implementing Learning Coin for Equitable Education project supported by the Equitable Education Fund to enhance literacy skills of disadvantaged children and youth in Thailand through the use of mobile learning, ICT and conditional cash transfer. She has also been implementing the Mobile Literacy for Out-of-School Children for migrant children along the Thai-Myanmar border and children in the Deep South of Thailand. With her experience in non-formal education, Sowirin has been promoting lifelong learning programmes and community learning centres in the Asia-Pacific region.
