Until his nomination as Representative for Thailand, Mr. Thomas Davin was the UNICEF Representative in Algeria from May 2012 to end January 2016. Before his Algeria assignment, Mr. Davin was Regional Chief for Disaster Preparedness, Resilience Building and Emergency Response for the UNICEF Regional Office for the Middle East and Northern Africa Region (MENARO), from 2006 till mid-2012. Prior to his MENARO posting, Mr. Davin was Deputy Representative as well as Acting Representative for UNICEF Djibouti, and before that he went through a number of UNICEF postings, including Programme Officer in UNICEF Geneva, Pakistan and then Afghanistan, as well as Field Officer in Kosovo where he started with UNICEF in 2000.
Besides UNICEF, Mr. Davin has also had the opportunity to work with the Office of the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), the OSCE, IRC and a few community-based French NGOs in Kosovo, Romania, Burkina Faso and France. Mr. Davin holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Economics and a Master’s degree in Political Science.
He is a French national and is married with two children.
