Dr. Kristiina Erkkilä is Senior Advisor with MDI Public, a Consultancy for Regional Development. She has a strong background in educational practice and policy both in Finland and internationally. Her professional career covers experience in all school levels from primary to tertiary, teacher education and administration in variety of roles. She has a proven track record in driving educational innovations and promoting international collaboration. She has gained extensive experience from her time as Director of Development with the City of Espoo’s Education and Cultural Services and from its many networks. Before that she was Director of the International Centre in Mikkeli University of Applied Sciences. She holds a PhD from the University of Pittsburgh. Her research and development interests are in entrepreneurial education, learning ecosystems and sustainable development, particularly in connection with lifelong learning. She has been member of the expert group for the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities from its beginning in 2013.
